Are
You Fit to Travel?

You
may say “yes” but your travel plan provider
may say “no”.
The
various carriers that offer group benefit programs usually
offer a deluxe travel benefit for their plans. These plans
are designed to assist the member in dealing with the high
cost of a sudden and unexpected accident, illness or injury.
Most
of these plans contain language around "sudden and
unexpected wording or pre-existing condition" wording,
whereby in the event you require hospitalization or treatment
due to a documented medical condition you had prior to traveling
you may not be covered. As an example, if you suffered a
heart attack four months ago and your doctor has suggested
rest and relaxation. Why not do this in FLORIDA????? Your
policy may have an exclusion that voids any payment should
you require any treatments related to your previous heart
attack. Some policies allow for travel after a certain period
of time has passed or possibly with medical clearance from
your physician.
Wording
varies from policy to policy so we encourage you to inform
your employees in advance of them traveling and if they
are unsure we recommend they contact the insurance company
directly.
Incurring
medical costs or a hospital stay while traveling in itself
is difficult enough. Don’t add to this by finding
out the hard way that you don’t have proper coverage.

NEXT STEP IS YOURS. TAKE THE FIRST STEP ON THE RIGHT
